The genesis of Social Accounting and Audit (SAA) goes to the practice adopted in United Kingdom by Social Audit Network, UK. This is an approach to help community based organizations to develop comprehensive accounting tools to measure its impact as well as report on its performance to its stakeholders. Social Audit Network, India, is the Indian Chapter of Social Audit Network UK, and was launched by MSDS in 2010.
SAN, India conducts periodical training programmes in Social Accounting and Audit across the country. So far, SAN India has trained 180 participants in Social Accounting. Presently, there are 20 Social Auditors registered with SAN India and SAN UK.
